About Burton & Swadlincote Natural Parents
Hello! I’m Aimee, founder of Burton & Swadlincote Natural Parents.
I am a mother of three children who has always had a keen instinct for parenting with a close and connected ethos. Baby Carriers have been a useful tool for parenting all of my children and I want to share that with others so that they too can realise the benefits of babywearing.
Our Sling Library
I am a very experienced in using baby carriers, I have been using them since my oldest child was born in 2009. When the Sling Library started in 2013 I completed my Babywearing Peer Support training with The School of Babywearing, and then in 2020 I trained with Slingababy to become a Babywearing Consultant. These training courses covered the physiological side of carrying, as well as the practical aspects, giving me a well-rounded knowledge of carrying in many different situations and circumstances.
The aim of the Sling Library is to give people the opportunity to try baby carriers before they purchase so they know they are buying something which will work for them. We recognise that people come in different shapes and sizes and have different needs and wants so we give them the chance to share their requirements and can match them to ideal carriers which they can then go on to try on and hire for a longer trial.
As a Babywearing Consultant I provide 1:1 Consultations in my home. I offer an Introduction to Babywearing session if you are new to slings and would like to look at the options available and be taught how to carry your child safely. You may want to learn a specific skill like using a woven wrap or want to progress to back carrying, or if you have multiples I can find a solution which suits your family. I can also offer my expertise to help you carry if you or your baby have a medical or health needs that requires the time to make careful considerations. I offer Mini Consultations if you would like to try something new, or Sling Clinic if you already have your own carrier but would like it setting up or troubleshooting an issues that you are having.
Appointments take place at the Burton & Swadlincote Natural Parents HQ. The Library stocks many different types of carrier suitable from Newborn to Preschooler, details of all available carriers and their hire charges can be found within the Sling Library Inventory.
At all of our appointments we will cover a demonstration of carriers that I feel will meet your needs from what you have told me, the opportunity to try on the carriers with your baby or our demo doll with support from myself, safety information, digital instructions for how to use the carrier and ongoing support throughout the hire period to make sure you get the most out of the carrier.

Our Cloth Nappy Library
I have used cloth nappies over the last 11 years with all three of my children, I was ready to add a little something extra to our lives when my oldest child was 5 months old. In the beginning I was very keen to not contribute more waste going to landfill so reusables seemed the obvious choice and financially it felt like I was throwing money away every time I put a nappy in the bin.
After we had used cloth nappies for a while I saw so many benefits, they were better for my babies skin as they were made of breathable materials, better containment so no more poo explosions - the nape of the neck to the creases in their toes one was just the worst, the comfort factor - I know I'd rather wear soft and squishy pants over paper pants, and let's not forget how pretty they can be! So many pretty nappy prints to choose from, space, robots, floral, animal, geometric, nursery rhymes, limited edition prints, bold block colours, nature, customised work at home mum designs, special occasions, and I've even seen fish and chips on a nappy, it's very easy to fall in love with cloth nappies if you are a magpie that likes pretty things like me!
I added the Cloth Nappy Library to Burton & Swadlincote Natural Parents because I wanted to give parents an opportunity to see how cloth nappies would fit into their lives and find out which nappies would suit their requirements. Once they had found their favourites they could go on and make a purchase knowing that it was the right nappy for them.
I have both Newborn and Birth to Potty kits available to hire with everything that you need to get started. Each kit contains between 20 - 25 nappies in various styles and brands, a large wetbag and a travel wetbag for changing bags, fleece liners, additional boosters and a wipes kit. I also provide a manual which provides an inventory of the items in the kit, information about the different types of nappies and boosters, a wash guide, fit guide, a how to for the wipes kit and some general information. During the hire period I am available for troubleshooting or just cooing with you over how cute your baby looks in their first cloth nappy.
I hope to create nappy kits in a way that make parents open the bag and say WOW! Ready to go, get stuck in and have a go with them. I keep up to date with the brands that are available making sure that all of the nappies in the kit are available to buy and I include newer brands and variations. I like the nappies to be in excellent condition so that parents have no concerns about putting them on their baby. At the end of every hire I check every nappy to ensure that nothing is broken, there are no holes, I check for stains that need attention and if the elastics are still good. Once this is done the nappies are rewashed at 60 degrees with some Miofresh sanitiser and checked over again before packing, this way I know that every kit goes out in exactly the same standard. I am very proud of the kits and I always want to give parents the best first impression of cloth nappies .
